Paragliding, also known as Parapente, was developed around
1985, and despite it's relative youth has a huge following
worldwide. Paragliding appeals to hikers and mountain climbers, as
paragliders are lightweight, can be carried in a backpack, and can
be made instantly ready for the flight down the mountain at the
end of the day. It also appeals to the serious pilots, because
like a sailplane or hang glider you can ride thermal currents and
stay airborne indefinitely. |
