Endless Summer
Barb & Marty to Halifax - June 10
Hi Everyone, We are safe in Edmonton at Sister 3's (Harmony)
Now - it has been brought to my attention that I neglected to pass on the body measurements when I crossed the border - I did indeed take them, but it was Marty who - said "people don't want to know that stuff"
Well at least some of you do ... so here goes:
AT Alberta border:
Calf - 1/2 inch BIGGER
Thigh - 3/4 inch BIGGER
Butt/hip - 1 inch SMALLER
waist 1/2 inch SMALLER
bust 1 and 1/2 inch SMALLER
arm @ bicep 1/2 inch SMALLER
Mario, our Jasper friend decided to come with us for a bit - he literally tied stuff to his bike and took off in the icy Jasper rain with us.
We met a couple in a Hinton coffee shop Meryl and Brent who are a bit older than us who had ridden the country and more and had great tips for us. No matter how you look at it Ontario will be the biggest challenge it sounds like.
Then we went about 15 km past Hinton and stayed in the Willowbrook campsite s0 $25 per tent - now we have 3 tents with Mario s0 $75 or $90 for the cabin and it's pouring with rain - yes we made the same decision - warm and dry for that night.
We rode into Edson the next day and stayed with Leigh and Wendy and I promised I wouldn't give thier Edson address out - but were just treated like Kings! Thanks you guys - I still have one apple left from all that fruit we nicked from you!
We made it 103 km to the Pembina River Provincial park and stayed the night there it didn't rain all night and then it came down again.
We went for breakfast in Evansburg and met a really nice couple who own the Lobstick Ranch - I will send then a postcard! Too bad she said they didn't meet the night before - we could have stayed at their ranch.
No matter how bad things seem in the world - I can tell you with no doubt that the world is still full of beautiful, wonderful kind and giving people.
So today didn't go that great. Left in the worst rain yet and then hit those same strong headwinds as yesterdat - it was tough tough going.
Good friend Rhonda ( taught me how to drive a bus) had been waiting at the beach corner store for I don't know how long until she gave up and came and found us. We had lunch and a visit and she topped us off with a great care package! Thanks Rhonda Lynn!
So now the confession. After hours on the bike, the rain, the heasdwinds, the hail, and the tornado warnings my sister and brother in law came by in the truck and we didn't say no. It saved us the busiest part of Edmonton and we are showered, warm and smelling dinner cooking.
The simple things in life are truly the best.
I get to go see my mom tomorrow on our rest day and then all will be well.
Love to all - and thank you for your e-mails!!! It keeps us going!
