Endless Summer
Santa Cruz Flats - Rob Clarkson Report Practice Day
No one was real motivated to get going today. I wanted to get some air time and
it looked good. Scott and I went to town and did the pre comp shopping trip.
When we got back no one was keen yet. I talked a couple people into going out
and we had to go to an airport 8 miles away as we had no insurance to tow
here. When we showed up there were a couple of gliders set up but no carts.
We set up our gliders and a cart soon showed up. We deceiced to do a 40 mile
triangle and land back at Fransico. The cart had a flat. By the time we get
it fixed it was 4 o'clock. Scott and I decieded to just fly straight here so
we didn't have to tear down our gliders. We didn't get very high and headed
out on glide. We got down to 300' before Scott found some good lift. We
climbed up and Scott said we have it on glide lets go. I said I want to come
in fast. We got it he says. OK and I head off. Rob turn left...more left. I
just made it to the furthest fair way and had to walk my glider accross the
whole course. I pounded in so I wasn't too upset no one had a good view of my
landing. It was a nice start flight for the week.
